Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Omaha area.
Omaha's position at the physical center of the railroad, telegraph and livestock industries has led to its dominance in the emerging information industry, as well. Many hotel chains, Fortune 500 companies and telecommunications networks are based here. When you call a national 800 number, the person on the other end likely is sitting in Omaha. Warren Buffet owns Borsheim's here, the largest independent jewelry store in the country. The symphony and opera are world class, the Omaha Community Playhouse has produced some of our country's best actors, and many inventions that are now household terms everywhere in America, such as TV dinners, instant cake mix, Reuben sandwiches and raisin bran were born here. Omaha supports two major medical schools, which is unusual for a town of its size, and has more public golf courses than any other large city. The city presently is planning to construct a pedestrian bridge to Iowa over the Missouri River, and an array of impressive riverfront projects includes a strikingly designed 240,000 square foot Convention Center and 20,000 seat Arena. Omaha has been booming since it was first founded, yet the unusual number of parks, live outdoor jazz concerts and beautiful hiking and biking trails attest to a population who also knows how to enjoy life.
